Why was my content flagged, and what can I do?

TroubleshootingUpdated 22 October 20263 min read

A flagged generation can come from our own checks or from the safety systems of the model provider, and either one can get it wrong on content that is perfectly fine. This page explains what is checked, what usually causes a false alarm, how to fix it, and what happens to your credits.

Why was my generation flagged?

Two separate layers look at your work. The first is ours: we check your prompt before anything is charged, we check the photos and videos you upload (including whether everyone in them looks like an adult), and we check finished videos, frame by frame, before they reach you. The result of a face or character swap is checked the same way.

The second layer belongs to the model provider. Every model company runs its own safety filters on what you send and on what the model returns, on top of ours. We cannot see their rules, so we cannot always tell you which layer stopped a generation.

Our check on finished videos looks for nudity, graphic violence and faces that may belong to someone under 18. A video that is held back is not delivered, and its card shows that it may contain sensitive content.

What usually causes a false alarm?

A lot of bare skin in an ordinary setting: swimwear, the beach, sport, dance, fitness, or a close shot of a shoulder or back.

Blood-red colors, face paint, food, medical or injury-themed scenes, and fast action that looks violent out of context.

Young-looking adults. The check estimates age from faces, so a youthful face, a school setting, a costume, or a wide shot with many small faces can trip it.

Words that have a second meaning in your prompt, or a reference photo that is cropped or lit in a way that hides how old someone is.

How do I fix a flagged generation that was safe?

Change what the checks react to, then try again.

Reword the prompt in plain, specific language. Describe what the scene shows and avoid words that can be read two ways.

Make the subject clearly an adult and the setting clearly ordinary: give their age or job, and use everyday clothing.

Change the framing: a wider shot, more clothing in view, calmer light, less motion.

Replace or remove the reference image if it is the one that was flagged, or use a sharper photo of a clearly adult face.

Press Recreate on the card. It opens the composer with the same prompt, reference files and settings filled in, so you only edit what you want to change. Nothing runs until you press Generate.

Will I get my credits back?

Yes. When a generation fails, or when our check holds a finished video back, the credits return to your balance automatically, in the same step that marks the generation as failed. If you used a free attempt, that attempt is restored instead.

A card shows "Credits refunded" or "Free attempt restored" only after the refund has been recorded. A prompt or an upload that is declined before a generation starts is never charged.

Still think a check is wrong?

Write to support@melter.ai and include the link to the generation (open it from History or Assets and copy the address). Tell us what you were making, so we can look at what the check saw.
