Why did my generation fail, and do I get my credits back?

TroubleshootingUpdated 22 October 20262 min read

Most failed generations are temporary and have nothing to do with what you wrote. This page explains the usual causes, what each message on the card means, and what happens to your credits.

Why did my generation fail?

The model provider can refuse or drop a job: its servers may be overloaded, it may not accept a setting or a reference file, or a request may time out. These failures are usually short-lived.

A job can also fail on our side after the model has finished, for example while we process or store the result. We treat that as our problem, not yours.

If the card says it was not delivered or may contain sensitive content, the cause is different. See "Why was my content flagged" for that case.

What do the messages on the card mean?

Failed: the job stopped before you received a result. You were not charged.

Temporarily unavailable: the model cannot take new work right now. Nothing was charged. Try again in a few minutes or pick another model.

Taking longer than usual: we could not get an answer from the provider and are still checking. Your credits stay reserved while we check, and we never start a second paid run on our own.

What can I try next?

Press Recreate on the card. It opens the composer with the same prompt, reference files and settings filled in, so nothing is lost. Nothing runs until you press Generate.

Wait a few minutes and try again if the message says the model is unavailable.

Check your reference files: very small images, unusual aspect ratios and long clips are the most common reasons a model rejects a request. Try a different file or a different model.

Shorten the prompt or remove settings you do not need, then generate again.

Will I get my credits back?

Yes. When a generation fails, your credits are returned in the same step in which its status changes, and a free attempt is restored instead of credits if that is what you used.

The card shows that credits were refunded only after the refund has been recorded, so a missing label means nothing was charged in the first place.

If we cannot confirm the outcome with the provider within 72 hours, we return your credits automatically.
